• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

    1. They aren't my beliefs. 2. You were the one who was arguing about beliefs (Metallica Fanboy), and I was pointing out the vanity of your actions. In what way am I posting my inadequate beliefs?

    Life after Death?

that's why debating with religious people over whether or not they should be religious is pointless

    Life after Death?

the whole idea of "faith" is believing without sufficient evidence...

    Life after Death?

which would be frankly impossible in "happy happy land"
  5. FireChao

    Life after Death?

No, it's because that removes any hint of a meaning life ever had.

    Life after Death?

I have no reason to fear eternal life - it's definitely better than annihilation in my opinion - there is always something new you can do, surely? Even with eternity to spend...

    Life after Death?

Even though we would be happy in that situation, I would still give my life to stop that hapenning to the world (probably - I've never been in a situation like that so I don't know whether or not I'd just get scared or something). p.s. I think you guys have successfully torn my religion from me...

it's just funny that they were so similar to music dragon's perfect world

    Life after Death?

meh - I can never really understand God. The bible strongly points out that the lord moves in mysterious ways but that doesn't really seem satisfactory...

    Life after Death?

no one would use the word, but if we sat there just being happy for no reason, life certainly would be ghastly
  11. FireChao

    Life after Death?

he didn't cause it. we decided upon it - it's just that he knows what we are going to decide. no, but it would still be a ghastly situation.

    Life after Death?

what do we matter without free will! we'd just be mindless minions - happy but unimportant. The world cannot be perfect without free will. A more relevant dystopian novel would be A Brave New World - dystopian for want of freedom.

    Life after Death?

because we decided not to follow him - we're not his minions and he's not going to force happiness down our throats (that would be an almost 1984-like existence) I've always thought of hell as self-inflicted isolation from God (so no fiery agony) - we go there if we refuse to admit our...

    Life after Death?

we still choose to do whatever we want to - it's just that God knows what we are going to want to do because he respects us - our existence is pointless if our decisions mean nothing
  15. FireChao

    Life after Death?

yes - he gives us that option (although I don't really believe in the fire and brimstone version of hell) it has stayed popular long after that
  16. FireChao

    Life after Death?

none of you get it - he could stop us with zero effort (he is omnipotent), but he does not want to force us to follow him - he gives us the opportunity to reject him and do whatever the hell we want if we'd rather do that.
  17. FireChao

    Life after Death?

He doesn't stop us because he respects our decision to shun him and do evil. but your whole problem is that the big bang would have no cause - the eternal something wouldn't have had either...

    Life after Death?

the only real reason is that when you do it feels right here's my reasoning: God is real -> Live to his will -> better chance of eternal happiness however, the other possibility: God doesn't exist -> Live in contented Christianity -> Die and cease to exist (along with the rest of humanity)...

    Life after Death?

having christianity "forced into [you]" isn't quite the same as understanding and believing it
  20. FireChao

    Life after Death?

have many of them tried? religion can be very satisfying... ...less likely to randomly get depressed too... more importantly though: How would (b) solve it? are you saying that some of this eternal matter was converted into energy? if this did happen, isn't the causeless existence of this...
